I am a girl who likes makeup but rarely wants to put in too much effort. On a regular basis I like keeping it simple and easy to maintain but still girly and chic. A sheer red lip is my quintessential go-to and here’s why:

Sheer Red Lippies

Sheer Red Lippies

1) A classic red goes with almost every outfit but a full on bold high pigment red is difficult to maintain and not quite appropriate in a lot of situations.  However, make it a sheer formula that easily glides-on and it’s perfect for pretty much any makeup, any occasion and any outfit.

2) A red lip instantly adds brightness to your face immediately making you look more pulled together than you are even with a sheer formula.

3) It’s a perfect product for juicy, youthful-looking lips that look just the right amount of sexy. Not too much, not too little.

4) You don’t need a mirror to apply it so it’s super easy to maintain through out the day.

There are tons of sheer reds on the market. My absolute all-time favourite is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 62 Monte Carlo which is what i am wearing in the picture above. The formula is unbelievably light with decent pigmentation that can be built up if you want. It’s quite moisturising and leaves the most gorgeous shine on the lips but doesn’t move around too much and get everywhere once it’s on.

My other favourite is Clinique’s Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato which is a bit more of a coral red. Being a crayon-type lip color it’s even more easy to apply since the formula is quite solid and fantastic for travel. I find this to be quite long lasting on my lips as this is more like a stain and not too shiny.

Clarins came out with their Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector and the color 05 Red, is a perfect sheer red lippie and the latest addition to my collection. It’s the most moisturising out of the 3 and the colour is a true blue-toned sheer red. It smells good enough to eat. It’s definitely a hand bag essential for me.

Do you love sheer red lipsticks too? Tell me your favs!

Ciao :)
