The world’s going ga-ga over liquid lipsticks. However, I’ve really not gotten along well with any of them. Some are too gloopy, too sticky, too drying or the applicator is just a complete fail. So I’ve really always stuck to normal lipsticks or lip glosses. Until my chance discovery on a lazy Saturday afternoon when I walked in at the Tom Ford beauty counter.
The Tom Ford Patent Lip Colors were newly launched for Spring 2016, and i gave them a go and boy oh boy did they sweep me off my feet!
These are basically glossy-finish liquid lipsticks. I bought the colors “Orchid Fatale” which is the ones i am wearing in the above picture and “Red Garnet”. “Orchid Fatale” is a deep purple cool-toned berry color and “Red Garnet”is a true deep red. All shades in the range seem quite deep or bright with pretty much no nudey/neutral shades.
The formula is water-light and super pigmented – not sticky of gloopy at all. The applicator is pure genius – it’s a click and apply with a sponge tip that oozes out the product. That sponge tip makes it super easy to apply without the product going all over the place and the formula itself just hugs the lips as if magically told to not go out of the lines or “bleed” out. It’s really remarkable and that’s what makes it worth the crazy price tag. Tom Ford really know how to design a bloody awesome and efficient product.
The finish is quite glossy, as you can see in the swatch above and it lasts at least 5 hours despite eating and drinking. Also even though they are bright colors, they fade out evenly and uniformly leaving a stain on the lips towards the 6th hour which is also beautiful and hence reapplication is not mandatory.
These might be my all-time favourite lip product formulas out there. I really hope they bring out some muted / nudey colors too – i would literally use those every single day!
