First of all I was TRULY inspired by Tanya Burr launching her own makeup line. I mean, I have been subscribed to her channel for over 3 years now and have literally seen her grow week after week. While I subscribe to about 25 beauty gurus on youtube, Tanya will always have a special place because she was the first one I EVER watched. Hence, when i heard about her launch it was a no-brainer for me to go order it at feelunique.com cos obviously I was EXTREMELY curious to try them and VERY excited to own a product made by her.
First, let me talk about the formula. This is BY FAR the best lip gloss formula I have EVER used. And I own at least 50 lip glosses from Chanel, Dior & YSL to Maybelline, NYX and ELF. It’s a gel like formula that is NOT sticky at all.
The colours are quite pigmented especially the darker/brighter one i.e. “Exotic Island” and that’s not all….. this particular shade has immense staining power! Once I put it on, i can eat a meal and drink water out of a bottle, have hot coffee and the color still stays on but of course it’s not as shiny and glossy as it was when I first applied it. And when I say stain, it’s not that patchy weird drying type of staining. I have very dry lips but this gloss not only makes my lips all smooth and nice and shiny when i apply it but even after 3 hours, it feels moist and the colour left behind is uniform and just… awesome.
In a way, it reminds me of those expensive YSL glossy stains (i own 2 of those) but i much prefer the tanya burr lipgloss for the sheer awesomeness of the texture and formula. The YSL glossy stains can feel a bit plasticky sometimes. The Tanya Burr glosses just swipe on like a light weight gel and require minimum effort to look AWESOME. The shade “Picnic in the Park” is a light baby pink that goes with everything. The staining power on this one when worn alone on bare lips is obviously not truly visible because it’s such a light colour.
The doe foot applicator is easy to use and I generally dip in twice for a fully pigmented lip. The packaging is basic and functional and the scent is pleasant – nothing too strong. All in all, “Exotic Island” is probably in my top 5 lip products of ALL time. I absolutely love it. I want to keep back ups and I want to try out the other bright shades (definitely ordering Vampire Kiss, Heart Skipped a Beat ). … At 6.99 pounds, I might end up buying 8 out of the 12 shades cos I saw swatches on tanya’s blog post and there is not a single shade i dislike!
I highly recommend these – even if you’re a makeup snob and don’t look twice at drugstore lip glosses. THese will sweep you off your feet.
