I have fine hair that has a natural wave towards the ends. When I say fine, I mean fine like a 3 year old’s hair. It’s the type that looks great without ANY effort in dry weather but turns into a wild beast (that Daenerys Targaryen would have difficulty controlling) in hot, humid weather. I happen to stay in Singapore where it’s always 28c and rain is part of everyday life. I have literally tried at least a hundred hair serums but there are ONLY a handful of potions that help me tame my hair without having to put in more than 5 mins worth of effort. Two of my favourite ones are the Shu Uemura Essence Absolue (how classy does that sound eh?) and the very popular Moroccon Oil.

Shu Uemura Essence Absolue vs Moroccon Oil

The Shu Uemura Essence Absolue is a one of a kind leave-in hair oil. What I really really like using this for is in dry hair. I often wash my hair in the night and sleep on it when it’s still damp. So when I wake up my hair is completely out of control. One pump of essence absolue and I run my fingers through my hair and put in a hair tie. 5 mins later I untie my hair and it’s shiny, smooth and the natural wave looks effortlessly chic without me even going near a styling tool. The texture of the oil is quite light so I find that I can use as much as I want and it never makes my hair look greasy (which is a massive achievement!). I never EVER finish any hair styling products but i love this so much that I am about to finish up a 150ml bottle and definitely planning to repurchase.

The Moroccon Oil is a much talked about product and everyone seems to love it and for good reason. It is one of my favourite serums to use in damp hair. The first thing you notice is the scent. It smells absolutely divine and i couldn’t stop sniffing my hair when i first started using it. But smelling good aside, the product is fantastic. Even if I leave my hair to air dry, my hair is left feeling soft, smooth and touchable without really doing anything to it. It helps control frizz and keep my hair manageable without having to use any styling tools. The only thing is that the texture is quite thick so I do find that it can make my hair greasy if i use too much product.

Considering I refuse to put in any effort for my hair on a daily basis, I am quite happy to go with kinda messy wavy hair that is still shiny and healthy looking.

Let me know what your favourite hair oils are??
