Recently, one of my friends invited me to join her for the Estee Lauder private sale and obviously i jumped at the opportunity. I obviously picked up A LOT of stuff but being the foundation junkie I am, i picked up 4 different ones. Given that ViviannaDoesMakeup could not stop raving about the Perfectionist Youth Infusing foundation, how could I not pick it up? And while I was doing that, I also got distracted by another foundation in the exact same packaging – the Futurist Aqua Brilliance ! Upon watching the formulas definitely felt very different and I decided to buy both. The Futurist is an Asia-exclusive launch in my opinion as I cannot find it on the USA website. I got the shade 2W0 Warm Vanilla in both.
Here’s how they compare.
Texture: The Perfectionist is definitely more runny and thin vs the Futurist. It’s akin to low fat milk vs the Futurist being like condensed milk. They are both very easy to blend but because of the super thin consistency of Perfectionist, it’s slightly more easier slap on the face. The Perfectionist sort of reminds me Chanel Perfection Lumiere’s texture.
Coverage: While they are both build able, the Futurist is definitely more full coverage. They both don’t look cakey at all but with Perfectionist I can definitely see my red marks coming through and would need a bit more work to get a flawless coverage (if that is what you want)
Finish: They are both very very similar in terms of finish so it’s very hard to differentiate. I would say that that the Futurist is a smidgen more sheeny and the Perfectionist is smidgen more skin-like. But you really really can’t tell much difference.
Longevity: Again, they both are very similar. I always set with powder since I have oily skin so they both lasted quite well for a full 10 hour work day.
In short, they’re both winners. If you have dry skin I’d say go for the Futurist cos it’s that little more moisturising in a way. Otherwise I prefer the Perfectionist a bit more because of the thin texture and natural finish that good for everyday wear.
