Yes Chanel make beautiful things. Their skincare products are no exception. From the packaging to the scent to writing on the boxes. But my standards for skincare efficacy are extremely high regardless of pretty packaging (that makes you want to keep the bottle on your vanity and look at it everyday). And in my opinion, Chanel have made the best AHA exfoliant available on the market.

Chanel le weekend

What is an AHA exfoliant you ask me? Putting it simply, it’s an exfoliating liquid/lotion for your face that takes of the layer of dead skin cells and reveals new skin that is radiant and soft. You use it at the “toner” step of the regimen. The process of taking this top layer of dead skin cells off also helps to lighten scars (acne or others) obviously because in a way the scar tissue is made thinner and thinner as time goes by and with more chemical exfoliation. Which is why these kind of products are very important for my skin care regimen given i scar very easily because of pimples and mosquito bites.

The best one on the market is the alpha-h liquid gold until Chanel brought this out. Now purely in terms of “power” of exfoliation, I still do believe that alpha-h liquid gold is stronger. However, I prefer the chanel le weekend for 2 main reasons: 1) it’s a creamy lotion texture that feels moisturising while you apply to your face vs alpha h liquid gold that is just a clear liquid and sometimes my skin is quite dry for me to just use Alpha-h and not add moisturiser on top (cos it’s recommended to use most aha products as standalone for them to work optimally) and 2) my skin can be quite sensitive sometimes and for those days the alpha-h can be extremely tingly to the point where i get a bit freaked and go wash it off. the chanel le weekend is ever so slightly tingly and you probably won’t even notice it even on days when my skin is sensitive.

In terms of end result i.e. when i wake up in the morning an look at my skin, they’re both gorgeous. I get soft, fair, radiant glowing skin and my acne scars seem 80% less visible (not that i have done a scientific study for that number). this has become an absolute must-have in my skincare stash and i whip it out twice a week and generally the night before a big day!

Price wise, the alpha-H (SGD 72 for 100ml) is much better value for money for all the girls who don’t have very sensitive skin or super dry skin, i would still recommend alpha-h. For everyone else, Chanel le weekend (SGD 140 for 50ml) would be your pick but do remember you use a much lesser amount of the chanel le weekend given the cream type texture vs the alpha-H liquid gold.

Have you tried any other AHA exfoliants? Put them down below in the comments section!

Ciao! :)

I’ve tried a sample to this ages ago along with the two others from the set and this stuff was awesome! I didn’t purchase it though, but it’s on my want list :)

I saw this product in a magazine recently. I was curious about it so I’m glad you reviewed it. Once you mentioned the strength of the glycolic in the peel, I had to check out the strength on Bliss’s Incredi-peel. I am currently using Bliss Incredi-peel pads on my face every other night. I couldn’t find the amount of glycolic in this. If you know, please tell me what it is. Otherwise, I wonder how Chanel Le Weekend is compared to Bliss Incredi-peel. My ears are open. Let me know if you have the scoop :) Great post by the way!

I love the Bliss Spa in Chicago. I bought the Incredi-peel while I was there. It created an unexpected issue. For early morning gym-goers, you will have to wake up and wash your face. Then you will need to apply something for moisture. I don’t like wasting my good cream for only a hour use in the a.m. If I had purchased a physical exfoliant, I wouldn’t really have this issue. I would be able to keep the moisture from the p.m. Some people say you should wash your face in the morning no matter what. What do you think? Do you have this issue?

I wash my face in the morning with a gentle face wash anyway n then follow with moisturizer n SPF. But I don’t work out in the morning but I guess you could use a light drugstore moisturizer before working out if you can’t go without moisturizing after washing your face,

Drugstore moisturizer makes me imagine acne just waiting to pop up the next day lol. I just purchased a “moisturizing” facial spray. I’m not sure that I like it though. It might be because of the scent. -To answer your question directly, I am not sure that I see great results with Incredi-peel. Not bad…just not what I thought I would. Then again, I am not using it every night. My skin is sensitive so it was a bit much for it. Combine that with me leaving it on overnight and working out with it still on (once)… not so good. Hence, our earlier conversation about a.m. washing. Sometimes, Sephora will let you try Incredi-peel (usually during makeovers).

I use a lot of Chanel skincare and I want this soo bad!! The price is a little daunting, but I know it’s worth it. Maybe I can convince the hubs for a Mother’s Day gift!
